One humanoid escapee
One android on the run
Seeking freedom beneath the lonely desert sun

Trying to change its program
Trying to change the mode, crack the code
Images conflicting into data overload

One zero zero one zero zero one
SOS
One zero zero one zero zero one
In distress
One zero zero one zero zero

Memory banks unloading
Bytes break into bits
Unit One's in trouble and it's scared out of its wits

Guidance systems break down
A struggle to exist
To resist
A pulse of dying power in a clenching plastic fist

One zero zero one zero zero one
SOS
One zero zero one zero zero one
In distress
One zero zero one zero zero

It replays each of the days
A hundred years of routines
Bows its head and prays
To the mother of all machines

Some great replies and I think they all work. On one level, this can simply be about an android becoming self-aware and making a run for it. I liked xl5ron's "Blade Runner" take of a human and android escaping. Never thought to seperate those lines into two beings.

On the flip side, it can also be about a human escaping the societal or self-imposed bonds that makes them less than human, be that parents, a job, or self held beliefs and thought patterns.

The title of the song may have been inspired by the Walt Whitman poem "I Sing the Body Electric", which celebrates the human body in all its forms. It's also the title of a Ray Bradbury short story about a family who lose their mother and hire a robot grandmother to replace her.

The numbers 1001001 are binary code for the capital letter 'I'.

A basic robot gone haywire song, comparable to the killroy story, told in the lyrics of Mr. Roboto by Styx. An overall amazing song.

My dad bought this album when he was 18 and loved it. He always thought this song was cool. Anyhow I like the electrical synth sounds, the funky bass lines and that gotta love 80's electric guitar.

I think Arbiter is 100% correct. Especially on the last paragraph. It looks to me that it's about robots replacing humans for everyday jobs. Then, eventually the androids or robots become more intelligent than humans, and run for it -- reprogram themselves; not live under control of humans. Kind of scary when you think about it: they could just destroy us all.

To me, this song is about the awakening of the indidudal within someone who has always lived a life os subjugation and slavery. As said above, 1001001 translates to "I", I imagine the robot screaming this as he realizes he is an indivudal with his own thoughts and belief. My question is whether or not the ending is a happy or sad one. Is he replaying all of the tasks he was forced to do and then he finally breaks reversing back to his ways?

rush is all about hidden meanings and that is what makes them brilliant. You have the android seeking to create an identity, find his true self, make himself real and break away from the norm by thinking outside the box and running out on his own.But like in our lives identifying and sticking to what you believe in can end up in struggle and you think it over again and again. In your struggle you may fail and end up reverting back to a routine, the thing you tried to separate yourself from and the last resort is pray

Ave Grave Thee More Shallows So this has been.my favorite song of OTEP's since it came out in 2004, and I always thought it was a song about a child's narrative of suffering in an abusive Christian home. But now that I am revisiting the lyrics, I am seeing something totally new. This song could be gospel of John but from the perspective of Jesus. Jesus was NOT having a good time up to and during the crucifixion. Everyone in the known world at the time looked to him with fear, admiration or disgust and he was constantly being asked questions. He spoke in "verses, prophesies and curses". He had made an enemy of the state, and believed the world was increasingly wicked and fallen from grace, or that he was in the "mouth of madness".The spine of atlas is the structure that allows the titan to hold the world up. Jesus challenged the state and in doing so became a celebrated resistance figure. It also made him public enemy #1. All of this happened simply because he was doing his thing, not because of any agenda he had or strategy. And then he gets scourged (storm of thorns)There are some plot holes here but I think it's an interesting interpretation. Corpse I Fell In Love With Gadjits, The He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could. Grand Theft Auto Insane Ian The way this song speaks to me🥺🥺when I sing it I feel like I relate Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri Hayalperest This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
