Arjuna is without doubt the strongest warrior in the Mahabharata, he defeated all Kauravas and Bhisma, Drona and Karna alone in the Virata war,winning single handedly against the Gandharva and Draupad army when Karna had ran from both. Arjuna was the only warrior who came out of Mahabharatha undefeated (defeated in Mahabharatha means being forced to retreat from a battle). even Drona and Bhishma could not force him to retreat, they were equal in battle but neither could be significantly better than the other as to get a kill. he was the only one to learn all five disciplines of dhanurveda from Shiva and by lore had all the celestial astras created. (even Parashuram only knew 3 disciplines of dhanurveda. drona, bhisma and karna too) Karna himself was defeated (as in either spared or forced to retreat) in Kurukshetra individually by Abhimanyu, Satyaki, and twice by Bhima, who spared him because of Arjuna's vow to kill him though Karna had indeed defeated Bhima too once and spared him because of his promise to Kunti.
Next, The final duel between Arjuna and Karna, it is the most twisted and misinterpreted thing of everything in the Mahabharata, in the original text, Karna didn't die because of his curse, his curse kick in because his hour of death came, he didn't die while lifting the chariot wheel, and Arjuna didn't shamelessly take advantage of Karna lifting his chariot wheel to kill him.
I would recommend everyone to read the duel from the beginning here, it's the original translation of Mahabharata by the Indian translator Kisari Mohan Ganguli, it still contain interpolation that paint Karna in a better light than he is, but it the only freely available version online, and have the least interpolation and karnawank, at least for this duel.
to summaries, near the end of the duel, Karna had his armor (not kavacha and kundala) destroyed completely, all his vital spots pierced by arrows and his whole body covered in blood, he got so mangled and covered with arrows that he dropped his bow and quiver from pain. Arjuna could have killed him then, but doesn't attack because dharma. Then Krishna tells him to get over it, but he still gave Karna time to recover, Krishna says, that's enough - use your superior divine weapons and end this already, when Arjuna is about to invoke Raudrastra, Karna curse kicks in and his chariot sunk, because, according to the narrative his 'hour of death had come', Karna asks Arjuna to stop the fight, saying it's against dharma for Arjuna to attack him now, Arjuna stop, Krishna, realizing Karna’s plan to buy some time, stated each and every time Karna violated dharma and ends with saying something along the lines of 'you can't just expect dharma to be accorded to you on your own convenience, you reap what you sow'. Karna bowed his head in shame after that. the fight resumes. Karna is still on his chariot, but the wheels has sunk. Karna realizes that Arjuna is not going to spare him, so he lands the first attack on Arjuna (from his chariot). The fight continues between Arjuna and Karna, and Arjuna soon invokes his Anjalika Astra, and cuts down the standard of Karna’s chariot and then slays Karna. The Anjalika Astra throws Karna down from his chariot onto the the ground, dead.
Lasty, Karna was not a saint at all, not even close,Karna in the original text is pure evil.

Actual Mahabharat me Karn aur Ashwatthama utne good terms parhi the, because Karna didnt like Dronacharya. And Arjun Karn se kam shaktishali nahi tha, infact Karba was more of a villaneous character, because he never did his dharma. That being said, the movie is still very enjoyable, as a fictional story!
