๐จ Isavia - Looking for Development Partner for a Unique Airport Hotel Development Site Iโm happy to share with you that Isavia, the operator of Keflavรญk Airport (KEF), is exploring the feasibility of developing a new airport hotel at KEF in cooperation with an experienced developer and operator. As part of the preparation of a Tender, and to create awareness about the potential opportunity, Isavia has invited interested parties with extensive experience in developing and operating hotels, to answer a short questionnaire about the project. KEF and the Hotel Opportunity โ Unique hotel development site adjacent to the terminal at Icelandโs largest and only hub airport๐ Passenger numbers are expected to reach 7.8 million in 2023 surpassing 2019 level and projected to reach 12-14 million per annum by 2035๐ Leading airport for transatlantic travel with even spread of passengers throughout year๐จ Potential to develop new sustainable 200+ bedroom hotel in a fast growing airport ๐ฐ Limited competition with high rate and occupancy potentialDue to this rapid growth, there has been a shortfall in accommodation in the area, particularly for higher-quality rooms. With an ideal location near the future passenger terminal, the new hotel will feature a minimum of 200 rooms in the first phase with a possibility to double in size in the second phase, multiple F&B outlets, meeting rooms, a fitness center, and direct terminal access. This initiative is part of KEF's broader landside redevelopment program, which includes a new passenger terminal and a multi-story car park. Further details are available at https://www.kefplus.is/en - check it out!โณ TimelineThe PME will follow the principles of equal treatment, non-discrimination, and transparency, in compliance with Icelandic public procurement regulations. While Isavia plans to proceed with a Tender procedure, this PME is non-binding and mainly for gathering information.Interested parties can submit their questionnaire responses via https://utbod.isavia.is no later than 12.00 GMT on 30 November 2023. Subsequent stages, such as one-on-one clarification meetings, will take place between November and December 2023. The official Tender documents are expected to be published in 2024.#hotels #hotelbusiness #hoteldesign #hotelproject #hotelindustry #hoteldevelopment

Some fun and interesting facts about some of IATAโs airport codes. The industry I work in now uses the ICAO ones but having spent almost all my career in the airline sector the IATA codes will always make more sense ๐https://lnkd.in/enRxyyEw

Aviation History BRANIFF WHO? Braniff Airways, British Airways & Air France Joint Services Aviation history was made on 12th Jan 1979 as 2 Concordes, belonging to Air France & British Airways, flew in from the east and lined up to land on parallel runways at Dallas DFW. This was the start of a scheduled supersonic service between Dallas DFW & Europe by Braniff in cooperation with Air France and British Airways. Braniff had placed orders for 3 Concordes, which they had to cancel. But they still had ambitions of operating the aircraft - and cooperation with BA & AF seemed the best option. On January 12th 1979, they introduced their first Concorde service between Dallas & Washington DC Dulles airport, and Europe. The flights between Dallas and Washington were operated by Braniff Flight & cabin crews after which British or French crews would take over for the remaining segment. To operate this service, there had to be a temporary change in ownership of the aircraft. As well as changing flight crews the US approved documentation and procedures had to be present on the flight deck, which meant that the UK/French documentation had to be stored in the forward toilet. There also had to be a change in the aircraft registration, while being flown on the US sector. #travel #aviation

This move will generate approximately 1,000 employment opportunities in collaboration with its partners.Boasting zero-emission as it is entirely electric, the Whales will be certified by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the US Federal Aviation Authority (FAA). It operates like a helicopter and can carry heavy loads, such as mobile hospitals, to remote locations."We would like to have a final assembly line in Abu Dhabi to produce airships for all the regions from East Africa to the Middle East to India. We have started the discussion, and if we set up a facility here, production will start in 2027, creating 300 direct jobs. Since other consortium companies will also come to the UAE to produce parts, in total, we will create around 1,000 jobs," said Sรฉbastien Bougon, chairman and CEO of Flying Whales.Source: Khaleej Times
