If you aren’t wrapping bacon around the stuffing at Thanksgiving or whenever you make homemade stuffing then what are you waiting for? Bacon is the glue that can hold anything together!

Air Fryer Bacon Wrapped Stuffing - Recipe Diaries (1)

Bacon wrapped stuffing is the ultimate Thanksgiving appetizer. Screw serving stuffing as a side dish for Thanksgiving this year and make these little puppies instead. 🙂 I first tried bacon wrapped stuffing at a friend's house and I remember it being the best thing I ever had at that party. I asked how it was made and it couldn't be easier.

What Ingredients do I need?

In this section, you can find substitutes or suggestions for certain ingredients. I also will try and list out what the ingredients' purpose is for.

Homemade Stuffing - Use your favorite recipe for making stuffing or use the stuffing that comes in a box. Your choice! I have a recipe for just simple stuffing here. Classic Homemade Stuffing

Bacon - I used thinly sliced bacon to wrap the stuffing in. Cut the bacon into 2 pieces before wrapping the bacon so you get more coverage if you decide to wrap the whole entire stuffing recipe.

How to make Bacon Wrapped Stuffing

To print the full recipe please see the recipe card below.

Set the oven temp to what the instructions say on the back of a stuffing box.

In a bowl, combine the stovetop stuffing mix, cooked sausage, cranberries, poultry seasoning, and diced apple into a bowl. Add in the chicken stock.

Pour into a 9X13 baking dish and bake in an oven for 25 to 30 minutes.

Cut the strips of bacon in half. Place about a tablespoon of the dressing mixture in the center of the bacon and then roll it up. Place on sheet tray lined with foil.

Repeat this process until all the bacon is used up.

To cook the bacon, turn the oven temp to 375 degrees - 400 degrees.

Bake the bacon-wrapped stuffing in a oven until the bacon is cooked. I used the same temperature as the stuffing for 18-20 minutes.

Air Fryer: Place wrapped stuffing in air fryer for 10 to 14 minutes at 350 degrees.

Serving size: 1 bacon-wrapped stuffing.

What air fryers are best?

I've had 3 or 4 different air fryers or the past 5 years and each one of them has worked very well with the air fryer recipes on this site. If you want to be able to cook more food for your family at once then get an air fryer with a large basket such as 5.3 quarts. Look for ones that say nonstick on them and has multiple program settings.

Power XL Air Fryer 5.3 Quart Basket. - This was my very first air fryer.

Our 5.3QT Power Air-Fryer comes in handy in preparing amazing meals from your cookbook, and frying a variety of dishes, such as: French fries, chicken, steak, roasts, fish tacos and sticks, waffle fries, pies, pudding and donuts.

Ninja Foodi Grill and Air Fryer - This air fryer works very well too but the air fryer setting doesn't go below 300 degrees. If there's a recipe that calls for lower temperatures you have to use the bake setting. It air frys, roasts, grills, and dehydrates food.

FAQs

Do you have to flip bacon when air frying? ›

You only have to try cooking bacon in the Air Fryer once for it to become your new favorite way to cook bacon. It's perfectly crisp every time and since the air circulates, there's no need to flip the bacon halfway.

How do you keep bacon from moving in an air fryer? ›

Bacon doesn't normally blow around too much in an air fryer, but if you want to keep it from curling, you can place a small rack directly on top.

Does bacon splatter in air fryer? ›

In just nine minutes, you can have hot bacon ready to serve. The best part about the air fryer is that the grease collects underneath the basket in the drawer, so there's no grease splatters in the kitchen and the grease is a cinch to discard (simply tip the drawer to pour off).

Can I put aluminum foil in an air fryer? ›

Foil is safe to use in an air fryer so long as you follow three basic rules: never let foil touch the heating element; make sure the foil is weighted so it doesn't blow around the basket; and avoid contact with acidic ingredients, which can cause the foil to leach onto your food.

Should you put water in the bottom of an air fryer when cooking bacon? ›

Preheat the air fryer at 320°F for 5 minutes. Pour 1/4 cup of water into the bottom of the air fryer to minimize smoke. Place bacon in a single layer into the preheated air fryer basket.

Should I use parchment paper for air fryer bacon? ›

Getting rid of the bacon fat can help prevent your air fryer from smoking when the next batch of bacon cooks. Add more bacon to the air-fryer basket, and repeat the process. If you want to reduce the mess you have to clean after air-frying your bacon, place a parchment paper liner in the bottom of your air fryer.

Can I put foil under bacon in air fryer? ›

Place bacon in air fryer

If you're using an oven-style air fryer, you'll want to put the bacon on an air-fry basket (basically a mesh rack) with either a solid pan or a piece of aluminum foil folded up on the edges underneath to catch any bacon grease drippings.

Why is my air fryer smoking after cooking bacon? ›

Speaking previously to HuffPost, recipe developer Brenda Peralta, of FeastGood.com, urged people to think twice before rushing to throw a handful of rashers in the air fryer. According to the food expert, “bacon is a fatty food, and when it is cooked in an air fryer, the fat can drip down and cause smoke or splatter”.

What is the best temperature to air fry bacon? ›

Preheat an air fryer to 390 degrees F (200 degrees C) according to manufacturer's instructions. Lay bacon in the air fryer basket in a single layer; some overlap is okay. Fry for 8 minutes. Flip and continue cooking until bacon is crisp, about 7 minutes more.

Do you have to clean air fryer after bacon? ›

To clean your air fryer after making bacon, use a few paper towels to wipe out the excess grease before you wash it. If you're planning on using the bacon grease, you can pour it out into a container or, if it's cold and congealed, scrape it out.

Do you really need to flip food in air fryer? ›

SHAKE OR FLIP FOOD

Most air fryers require you to shake the basket at least once during the air fry process to ensure every bit is crisped and browned to perfection. Some recipes call for flipping or shaking every 5 minutes, so don't stray too far from your air fryer while cooking.

Can you cook bacon without flipping it? ›

Nope! You don't have to flip it while cooking. You just lay the bacon on a baking sheet, stick it in the oven, and set a timer. The strips of bacon bubble away in the oven (no splattering!) and gradually become the crispy, golden-hued, irresistible bacon we know and love.

How to cook bacon in an air fryer without a mess? ›

Instructions
  1. Place the bacon in the air fryer basket. Some folding is okay, but try not to overlap too much.
  2. Cook at 400 degrees for 10 minutes.
  3. Check for desired doneness. I like mine extra crispy, so I usually cook it for 1-2 minutes more.
  4. Transfer to a wire rack with paper towel to cool/ drain excess grease.
